Analytics for media time watched
Incorporation of an analytic view option for resources, particularly in terms of watch time measured in hours. This addition will significantly aid us in monitoring user engagement levels with the resources.
As an organizational user I can export Aviary indexes in ohms XML format
Aviary allows for the import of ohms XML to create an Aviary index however, there is currently no way to re-export that same index back to ohms XML.
Enable resource metadata Date field to be displayed in different date formats
Currently, the preferred data format is based on ISO 8601, is a standardized way to represent dates and times, typically in the format YYYY-MM-DD for dates. The Date field does allow any text date to be entered, but any other format cannot be used to filter by dates in the site search. Allow an org to choose a different display format for dates entered using the standard format. For example, if the data entered is 2025-01-01, the org might instead preferred these dates displayed as January 1, 2025 in the resource detail screen.
Display waveform visualization in index editor to enable fine timecode selection
Consider wavesurfer.js region plugin: https://wavesurfer.xyz/examples/?regions.js
Restrict media file downloads by IP address
Add restrictions for downloading media files, so only users with IP addresses in a permission group can download files
As an OHMS User, I can create multiple annotation sets for a transcript
As an OHMS User, I can convert legacy OHMS transcripts with footnotes and have those footnotes converted to standard annotations
This functions like this for OHMS XML import, but not legacy transcript conversion.
Create checksums for supplemental files
When we download supplemental files, we don't know if they are corrupted or not. It would be a helpful feature to create checksum values for supplemental files and GET the supplemental file checksums in API responses.
Media Staging - Allow Supplemental Files
It might be useful to allow supported supplemental file types to be uploaded and attached to a resource in Aviary, especially in cases where they might be packaged together with media in a cloud storage service
Bulk edit 'status' in OHMS
It would be useful to be able to bulk update the interview status (Pending, Ready for QC, Complete, etc.) by clicking multiple checkboxes and using Bulk Edit Options under "Table Options”. It’s possible to do something similar and bulk update OHMS user assignments, so a similar workflow with a dropdown menu with status options would be great. Alternatively, (or additionally!) it would be great to have a status dropdown in the table, similar to how there is a dropdown for OHMS user assignments. Right now, it’s cumbersome to update lots of statuses at once because you have to open each interview’s indexing page, then return to the search. Thanks!

Bulk edit media file names
Currently media file names can only be manually edited using the File Name field in the Aviary UI. Add functionality to bulk edit media file names in bulk by: Importing a bulk metadata edit CSV in the Media Files table Editing media file metadata in the API
Set transcript status and caption status during automated metadata request
As an Org User, I can set transcripts status=public and/or set transcripts as captions when requesting automated transcription jobs in the Bulk Edit menu. This would make the process much more efficient. Currently, it is necessary to do this work after the automated metadata transcripts are created to then make these changes.

GET Aviary resources by the custom_unique_identifier parameter
In addition to the existing GET by resource ID
Add Amazon transcribe as automated metadata service
This would allow a wider set of languages to be supported, including Zulu
Don't Display the Read More about this Collection button on a Collection page if there is not additional metadata to display
Currently, the Read more button is displayed regardless of whether there is more to read or not. Only display the button when there is more to read.
Make it easier to Access access request for limited times instead of ongoing
When an administrator is servicing an access-request, the screen that the administrator goes to displays a big “Accept” button that grants unlimited access. This is not the desired behavior. Granting time-based access is the typically required action; which is several clicks away from the default access screen. It would be helpful if administrators had more control over default screen for access requests.
PUT update the thumbnail associated with a media file
This is currently not possible in the API (or as a bulk function in the web ui)
Support transcript captions with line breaks
According to most captioning guidelines, a single line of text in a caption should generally be no more than 30-35 characters. Most recommendations aim for a maximum of 1-2 lines per caption, ensuring readability and comfortable fit within the screen space. This is not currently supported in Aviary. Each transcript segment does not contain any line breaks and any line breaks included in a transcript import are normally ignored by Aviary. Allow a user to import a VTT or SRT caption into Aviary and display the precise number of lines and characters as created in the imported file. Provide a caption creator/editor that supports the creation of captions as distinct from transcripts.
Include total number of resources in a collection to Aviary Collections API GET
I'm trying to use API to export resources metadata from a collection. I'm using the collections API to get all resource ids within the collection, then use resources API to get resource's metadata, that worked well. But I noticed I can only get 100 resource ids from the collections API at a time, I can loop through pages to get more resource ids, but I didn't see the collections API providing the total number of resources in the response json, am I missing something? I'd like to get the total number of resources of a collection or some other thing (such as end of response flag) to be included in the JSON response, so that I can control the page loop programmatically.
Autosave transcript edits in transcript editor
Hi, I was wondering if there could be some kind of auto-save option while you are in the transcript editing screen. I’ve had a couple of issues where I’m working on a transcript and it freezes up or crashes, and doesn’t save my work (unless I had just happened to save it multiple times while working). Sometimes it takes a couple hours to complete one transcript, and it’s a bit frustrating to have to remember to save every few minutes.
Sync NER annotation metadata details from Wikidata QID
As an OHMS transcript editor user, I can GET metadata to fill out all of the NER annotation metadata fields by submitting a Wikidata QID
